Spring Concert

Picture
The Spring Concert this past year was more than an accomplishment. On behalf of BSU, we would like to start by thanking TKE, Women's Student Union, Spectrum, Latinos Unidos, Foreign Language Club, and Orchesis for co-sponsoring our event. We would also like to thank the Fredonia Men's Basketball team and TKE for being such great security and keeping the event safe. Thank you to CMA for helping out in every possible way with the event. The crowd of 585 people first warmed up to performer Jigg Jetson, then moved on to performer, Sonny 'Bingo' Black. As the crowd waited for Bobby V., they then sang and danced along with our campus band, Deja Vu who put on an awesome performance. Before we knew it, the crowd screamed and jumped for Bobby V. soon as they saw the first glimpse of him. Bobby V. loved the ladies and even asked the security guards to let them come forward. As the ladies reached for flowers and just a touch of his hand, Bobby V. sang popular songs such as 'Slow Down' and 'Beep Beep.' After the concert Bobby V. signed autographs and took pictures with his fans leaving everyone to go home with a smile.

Black History Month

Leroy Williams as HYPNOBRO

Picture
With over 150 people in the audience, the laughter never stopped. Hypnobro started with a few jokes and went straight to work hypnotizing twenty volunteers. While some were unable to relax enough to get hypnotized, others who did really put on a show. For our volunteers, growing hair out of their forehead seemed just as strange as sniffing the next person's feet as if it was the best thing they ever smelled. This show was not only favorable, it was hilarious. Even though our volunteers walked away in denial, our audience will always remember which men cried on our pretend Maury Show over their woman not being their baby's daddy!

Poetry to the People

Picture
This interactive poetic performance by Poetry to the People has always been an experience. Returning for their fourth year, "Rahnik" and "Chosen" engaged the audience with insightful poetry that borders topics such as culture, conflict, social and sexual responsibility, awareness and of course love. Ordering a total of thirty copies of their first combined anthology entitled Defying Gravity: I was Chosen, we sold twenty-three of those copies at the event. After the event, the audience was able to receive autographs for their new book and ask the speakers questions. Overall the event was very successful with attendance of forty-five people.

African American
History on Wheels

Picture
The African American History on Wheels - Inventors and inventions Exhibit was an eye opening event. Founder and president of the Reflections In Black Museum, Inc., Clifton J. Brown was very knowledgeable and passionate about African American History. Brown's goal was to share the "first" and little-known significant information about the many accomplishments and contributions of over 100 different inventions and inventors. Many guests walked out saying what it was an opportunity it was to see the exhibit and glad they had a chance to experience history.
